Guangzhou Academy of Special Equipment Inspection and Testing is the statutory special equipment inspection institution in Guangzhou and the institutions of public character, which belongs to Administration of Quality and Technology Supervision of Guangzhou Municipality. China National Quality Supervision and Testing Center of Explosion-proof Equipment (Guangdong) (“CQCEX” for short) is authorized by General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China(AQSIQ) and established the national explosion-proof equipment inspection and testing institution relying on Guangzhou Academy of Special Equipment Inspection and Testing.

CQCEx is based on explosion-proof equipment type tests and explosion-proof equipment in use safety inspection, which is a combination of explosion proof technology research, testing and certification and standard-setting. CQCEx own more than 6000m2 testing laboratory, the second phase of construction is more than 17000m2, which includes explosion-proof electrical equipment test and research laboratory, non-electrical/mechanical explosion-proof equipment test and research laboratory, explosion-proof equipment reliability laboratory, dust explosion and protection detection laboratory, explosion-proof lamp testing and optical inspection laboratory, hazardous chemicals physical hazard test and research laboratory. CQCEx is accredited in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025:2005 general requirements. CQCEx has professional and technical personnel more than 50 people, including 4 engineering professor, 6 doctors, more than 30 masters and more than 10 senior experts in the field of explosion-proof equipment area.

CQCEx is the deputy secretary-general members of explosion-proof electrical equipment subcommittee of National Technical Committee 9 on Explosion Protected Electrical Apparatus of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC9 /SC2), the secretariat of working group on fire and explosion prevention of National technical committee 208 on safety of machinery of standardization administration of China (SAC/TC208/WG9), the secretariat of Guangdong Technical Committee for Standardization of Explosion-proof Equipment (GD/TC88) and the deputy president members of Guangdong Work Safety Professional Service Association.

Relying on the powerful inspection research strength of CQCEx, the government set up the National Post-Doctoral Research Station, Guangdong Special Equipment Industry Engineering Technology Research Center and Guangzhou Key Laboratory of Accident Simulation and Physical Evidence Traceability Technology. At present, CQCEx undertakes the work of National Explosion-Proof Electrical Equipment Standardization Technical Committee, Explosion-Proof Electrical Appliances Sub Technical Committee Deputy secretary general units, the vice president of Guangdong Safety Service Organization Association, etc.
